Welcome, Danielle Ward

Please join us in welcoming Danielle Ward to the Healthy Acadia team!

Danielle joins us as a Maine Recovery Core Intern. Maine Recovery Core Interns offer direct peer support with the aim to improve recovery success among individuals facing substance use disorders. She provides recovery coaching and recovery supports in Kennebec County through Maine Prisoner Reentry Network (MPRN).

Danielle, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team?

I am a woman in long-term recovery whose passion is to help others. I know for me, having a listening ear and some encouragement made a huge difference in making changes within myself when I was most vulnerable and/or at my worst. I strive to offer that same support to others, and I believe Healthy Acadia is the right place to make that happen.

What most inspires you about Healthy Acadia's work?

The passion for helping others, the connections and relationships that are being built, and the success stories that are happening through the support, communities, and resources.

What most inspires you on a personal level?

I am inspired by my efforts of making positive and healthy changes within myself and achieving my goals.

What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?

I love hiking with my three amazing children and friends to any mountain that allows me to take in the beauty of what Maine has to offer. For me, it is a place where I can reconnect with myself and nature all at once while gaining peace within.

Danielle’s interests include yoga, running, listening to music, spending time with family, learning new skills, and being involved with advocacy that supports stigma to be reduced, voices to be heard, and changes to be made. She has recently earned her Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Certification through the University of Maine, Augusta (UMA) and her Yoga Teacher certification through the Prison Yoga Project (PYP). Danielle resides in Camden.
