Communities Will Host Pride Month Events
This month, some communities will host in-person Pride Month events to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community. Ellsworth Pride is planning a “Pride Zoo” display for the month in Knowlton Park, and events with entertainment and food, also in Knowlton Park, on June 13, 2021, from 1 to 5 p.m. Masks and social distancing are encouraged.
Ellsworth Pride is a coalition of local volunteers from Healthy Acadia, Heart of Ellsworth, local youth, many of whom are in EHS Gender/Sexuality Diversity Alliance (GSDA) and supported by many local businesses. There is still time for community members to create animals for the "Pride Zoo," an art installation that will be on display throughout downtown Ellsworth during Pride month. Bar Harbor’s Pride Festival is set for June 11-13, 2021, and will kick off with an outdoor drag show at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 11, at Fogtown Brewing in Ellsworth. A Saturday morning dog walk around Witch Hole Pond in Acadia National Park is also planned, and a festival will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Bar Harbor Congregational Church. On Sunday, there will be an event in Bar Harbor for LGBTQ+ youth.

Downeast Rainbow Alliance will host Downeast Pride events over three months -June through August - in 2021. On June 24-25, Pride celebration events will include a printing workshop on June 24, from 1 to 5 p.m., at Cobscook Learning Center, and the Eastport Passport Artwalk, which begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 25 and will feature a variety of arts and outdoor activities, including a live concert at 6 p.m. with Machias-based band, Beach Trash.
