Welcome, Maria Sweetland

Please join us in welcoming Maria Sweetland to the Healthy Acadia team! 

Maria joins us as a Maine Recovery Core Intern. Maine Recovery Core Interns offer direct peer support with the aim of improving recovery success among individuals facing substance use disorders.

She is a CCAR-certified Recovery Coach and provides recovery coaching and recovery supports in Penobscot County through the Bangor Area Recovery Network (BARN).

Maria, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team?

Working with other Recovery Coach Interns at the BARN, I have volunteered there for about a year.

What most inspires you about Healthy Acadia's work? 

Helping a variety of different people from all walks of life.

What most inspires you on a personal level?

The feeling I get when somebody looks at me and says thank you for listening and caring.

What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?

Horseback riding in the woods.

Maria lives in Kenduskeag with her dog, Indy, and enjoys taking care of her 5-year-old grandson during the week.
