Welcome, Katherine (Kat) Eaton, NRP
Please join us in welcoming Katherine (Kat) Eaton to the Healthy Acadia team!
Kat joins our team as Community Health and Resource Navigator. In her role, Kat works to support implementation of substance use and overdose prevention initiatives and recovery support systems for pregnant individuals, parents of young children, and their families.
Kat has worked in healthcare in several capacities over the span of the last 20 years and finds herself most at home in public service and working closely with people who need care or help they would struggle to find otherwise. As a licensed paramedic, she has worked closely with the Washington County community and is a strong advocate for improved access to healthcare and wellness services.
Kat, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team?
A large part of my last job was to advocate for the people of Hancock county, and I felt their needs weren't being met. I am very excited to be a part of a team that is focused entirely on procuring, providing access to, and guiding community members to the resources they need.
What most inspires you about Healthy Acadia's work?
Dedication to helping people from the ground up without prejudice and/or judgement is a refreshing change and a passion I never tire of.
What most inspires you on a personal level?
Seeing people care for others altruistically for a greater good makes me hopeful that change is possible and that resources can be developed and structured towards bettering the community.
What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?
Hiking and beach combing. Being in nature helps re-center me and has a significant impact in my overall mood.
Hailing from Hartford County, CT, Kat resides in Prospect Harbor with her 3-year-old son, her partner and his son, age 6, their two dogs ,and two parrotlets. She serves as a per-diem paramedic in Washington County and is also active on a couple of local volunteer fire departments in Hancock County.
