Welcome, Dani Robbins
Please join us in welcoming Dani Robbins to the Healthy Acadia team!
Dani joins us as a Community Health Coordinator in Hancock County. They will be supporting tobacco prevention efforts as part of our Tobacco Prevention Team and working within our communities to provide resources and support for people directly impacted by storms, flooding, excessive heat, and other effects of climate change through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Crisis Counseling Assistance and Training Program.
Dani, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team?
I joined the Healthy Acadia team because of my interest in accessibility, prevention, and social models of disability. I am also bringing experience as an educator and community builder to this position.
What most inspires you about Healthy Acadia's work and your new role?
I am inspired by the depth and breadth of HA's partnerships with other organizations because I really believe in a multifaceted, collaborative approach to community health.
What most inspires you on a personal level?
Creativity and community care inspire me on a personal level.
What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?
My favorite place to be in Maine is in my community garden plot! Watching a space change over time, tuning into the shifting of the seasons, and connecting with the food and flowers I am growing for my family and friends is grounding and healing.
“I am coming to my role at Healthy Acadia from a 2023 Creative Community Fellowship with National Arts Strategies. This fellowship was critical in applying my skills as an artist to social praxis and community building, which I plan to use in my new role!”
Dani holds a BA from Bennington College and a Graduate Certificate in Interdisciplinary Disability Studies from University of Maine. They currently reside in Mount Desert.
