Angelena has accepted the Recovery Resource Navigator / Community Health Navigator position here at Healthy Acadia.
Angelena joined our Healthy Acadia team through the Maine Recovery Core (MRC) Internship Program in December 2022. As a CCAR-certified recovery coach, Angelena offered recovery coaching in community and justice settings, resource brokering, community outreach, point of service, and mentored new interns entering the MRC program in Washington and Hancock counties.
As Recovery Resource Navigator, Angelena will provide navigation support to community members; key support around harm reduction initiatives including naloxone training; enhancing and improving recovery supports in Hancock County; collaborating with community partners, including corrections, clinicians, law enforcement, and social service agencies; and conducting outreach throughout Hancock County to help raise awareness and destigmatize substance use disorder.
As a Community Health Navigator, Angelena will support the implementation of a system of care navigation, serving individuals with substance use disorder and their children from pregnancy through age three. This work includes providing key support and partnership to the PROSPER Community Health Navigation team; providing education and outreach about PROSPER; providing in-depth navigation services and care coordination for clients, and coordinating education, training, and support groups for families and the community.
