Amber Kennedy is New Community Engagement Coordinator
Please join us in welcoming Amber Kennedy in her new role.
We’re excited to announce that Amber Kennedy, who has served as Activities Coordinator at our INSPIRE Recovery Community Center since 2023, will now serve as Community Engagement Coordinator. Amber designs and leads inclusive, recovery-focused activities that foster connection, healing, and personal growth. She coordinates outreach efforts, organizes community events, and cultivates a welcoming environment for individuals impacted by substance use and mental health challenges.
Amber, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team in this capacity?
I was inspired to join Healthy Acadia because of its genuine commitment to uplifting communities and promoting wellness through connection and compassion. I have been a part of this organization for almost two years, so I have seen how much heart goes into the work being done—and I wanted to continue contributing to that mission in a meaningful way.
What most inspires you about Healthy Acadia's work?
What inspires me most is Healthy Acadia’s commitment to addressing community needs with compassion and creativity. The work being done across different programs—from food access to substance use recovery—reflects a truly holistic approach to wellness. I love that my role allows me to create engaging, meaningful spaces where people feel heard, supported, and empowered in their recovery and mental health journeys.
What most inspires you on a personal level?
I’m most inspired by resilience—the ability of individuals and communities to grow and heal despite challenges. Seeing people show up for themselves and others motivates me to keep creating spaces that nurture that strength.
What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?
My favorite place to be in Maine is Hancock Point. Being by the water there brings me peace and perspective—it’s a space where I can slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with what matters. It’s truly my happy place.
Amber iscurrently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) at University of Maine, Machias. She currently resides in Hancock with her dog, Zero, and cat, Oliver, “…My two little sidekicks who always brighten my day. In my free time, I enjoy painting, journaling, and spending time by the water. One item on my bucket list is to take a cross-country road trip and visit as many national parks as possible—there’s something about wide open spaces and new adventures that really excites me!”
